The reaction you have to losing your job, or needing to find a new one, often determines the quality of the rest of your career. I have seen countless attorneys who get fired—or who worry they are going to get fired—have a variety of positive and negative reactions. If you react in a negative or over-the-top way to being fired (or the threat of this happening), you are only hurting yourself. I have seen many attorneys go off the rails after losing their job or having a negative experience in a law firm, and it never ends well.
